Not only has monetary reasons made fur less fashionable in the past decade, but it has been more of an ethical and personal decision. We have all heard and seen PETA’s aggressive Fur Is Dead campaign against fur, but aside from the blood, the rotting carcasses and sad-faced animals, does fur still emulates luxury? Yes, sadly it does, but now a new trend has evolved and that is faux fur. Many famous retailers and designers as H&M, Forever 21, Stella McCartney, BCBG Max Azria and Juicy Couture, among others, have made the conscious decision to forgo fur completely from their collections. And what a fabulous choice this has been, not only is faux fur economically accessible to everyone but there is no apparent sign that distinguishes real from synthetic, besides not having a dead animal’s skin covering your body.
