The Smiles Foundation meets again on Tuesday, December 11th 2012, at the popular urban contemporary restaurant, Wynwood Kitchen & Bar from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm to celebrate A Night for Smiles.  The Smiles Foundation’s fourth annual event in Miami promises to raise funds for various foundations in Colombia and Bolivia. The funds collected on this night will be distributed to local organizations to implement effective projects thanks to the help of Conexion Colombia and Bolivia Smiles Foundation. The night’s promise is to deliver gifts to thousands of children in December and in addition, promote education in these rural sectors. Conscience and glamour, under one roof.

The Smiles Foundation is a philanthropic group that seeks to give support, offer economic aid and achieve many smiles.  This year, A Night for Smiles will offer its guests a cocktail reception at Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, located at 2550 N.W. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida. The space will offer a unique experience, surrounded by art and a relaxed atmosphere, where guests can enjoy a vast selection of international wines as Marqués de Riscal and Epica, and toast for this wonderful occasion. The magical portion of the night will be the silent auction which will offer unique items of memorable value.  This year, recognized brands such as Silvia Tcherassi, Avianca and Viceroy Hotel, will be donating items and services.

On this edition, Latin stars as Shakira and others, will join the cause by donating to the long and valued list of auction items.  As an added feature, the event will offer a live mystery show, where guests will share the main ingredient of the night, a warm smile.   The realization of this major project would not have been possible without the valuable collaboration of those people who believed in the unlimited smiles that The Smiles Foundation will bring to thousands of children.  Likewise, its production had the valuable support of important allied companies who joined their services for the night’s success.

So as promised, here is our recount of what it was to outlive the famous “Running of the Brides” and I can say with total honesty…it wasn’t that bad.  Fortunate enough, we were some of the few lucky ones that actually walked out the doors carrying their trophy dress.

Arriving at 5:30am, we were extra caffeinated than normally, and ready, wearing our home-made war uniform, with our team’s name “Royal Pains” on the front.  While waiting for 8am to roam around, we were actually entertained by several wedding vendors who offered their many services.  Also, we were fed with protein bars and milk shakes, dressed with t-shirts and provided comfy yoga mats, all courtesy of SlimFast.

Finally, it was time to get ready, and as the countdown came to 0, we found ourselves carrying rather heavy dresses and bumping into half naked brides.  With what we didn’t bump into, was with any designer dresses or anything remotely close to Vera Wang, but the prices did balance out the equation of having such a disappointment.  As two and a half hours passed by, I had selected 2 dresses that could resemble the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2011 dress I had my heart set on.  But as things unexpectedly happen in life, and while I was on my last walk through down the hall of left-over dresses, something caught my attention. And just then and there, I had found THE dress. It’s funny when things happened like that!

Please enjoy the images of our such a memorable experience.

Had a blast during Fashion Connect’s latest event, Fashion Industry Briefcase at Kitchen 305.  It was a great opportunity to mingle and meet people in the industry.  With a select group of guests, consisting of designers, public relations entrepreneurs and future models, we were able to “connect” with each other.  The night offered a model showcase and a surprise goodie bag raffle, and most importantly, the promise of  promoting upcoming designers and undiscovered models.

Next upcoming event will be on March 23, and Miami Fashion Connect Studio Spring and European fashion comes together to entertain us.

The Location:

The Water Spa at the Viceroy was stunning, surrounded by Velati Candles that provided a very special touch.  The venue was divided into three different levels: first level had two glass suites that offered the “Backstage” experience of hair and make-up.   Suave Professionals ® and Babyliss PRO in conjunction with the amazing team from Rocco Donna Hair and Beauty Art, were in the house making everyone look beautiful.  On the second level, we had the main space, with pools delicately spread around the “floating library” that included the Fashion Lounge.  And finally, the third level had a  unique full bar that provided guests with a wide variety of exciting concoctions.

The Entertainment:

The show started with a magical fashion show filled with Hispanic celebrities that “floated” over the various pools showing the latest trends for fall, styled by Irma Martinez and her team from Trendy Inc. The night was hosted by Telemundo’s very own Candela Ferro and Univision TV personality, Poncho de Anda.

The Hair, The Beauty and The Fashion

Innovating technologies for hair and beauty were presented during the night.  Babyliss PRO showcased their professional lines of luxury hair dryers and superior professional styling tools, including dryers, straighteners, curling irons, trimmers, and clippers.  DECLÉOR shared its fantastic serums and balms made from 100% natural, pure, active and preservative-free Essential Oil blends which pampered everyone just before getting  styled.  BECCA added its range of luxurious line of make-up products and collection of the finest brushes to give all of the guests the finishing touches for a sensational look.  And for the grand finale, the outfits shown during the night’s fashion show were thanks to the Aventura Mall, who provided looks fresh out of the runway for everyone to enjoy during Miami Hair, Beauty and Fashion 2010.
